What is mainframes computer?

                  It is large size of computer which is made up of frames and all frames put together is called mainframes

           Example: ATM machine, it consist lots of frames like enter pin,withdrawn ,balance enquiry.

Features of mainframes:

1. it can store large volume of data.
2. it has very high processing speed.
3. executes 4 lakhs millions instructions per second.
4. can support lakhs of user concurrently.
5. it can interface with any other application.
6. no virus & no hacking in mainframes.

Application of mainframes:

1. banking applications.
2. reservations system.
3. telecom communications.
4. manufacturing applications.

Mainframes applications are divide into 2 types 

   

1.  batch processing (monthly salary payslips)
2. online processing.(like ATM)

Types of programs:

   

1. batch application. 
2. online application
